MTR Corporation announced yesterday that they are six months behind schedule with the South Island and Kwun Tong new lines. This brings a total of five MTR projects to be delayed – including the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, Shatin to Central Link and the West Island Line.
The South Island and Kwun Tong line delays are caused by construction difficulties, like complexity of construction methods, confined space constraints and restrictions at heavily developed areas, at Admiralty and Whampoa stations respectively, reports The Standard.
