Twins get into car chase to retrieve stolen Honda, then get arrested for assaulting ‘thieves’

Sometimes entire sections of soap opera dramas find a way to creep into real life, and when they do, the results can be ludicrously awesome, or in this case, almost too ridiculous to believe.

A man, surnamed Kwong, had his 1996 Honda Civic stolen from a auto repair shop in Sheung Shui on Monday, reports The Sun.

Kwong, a car enthusiast, was distraught to find it stolen while getting a simple check-up, so he put the car’s information on Facebook and asked the internet for help.

Yesterday morning at roughly 1am, Kwong’s prayers were answered when a netizen told him his car was spotted in Yuen Long.

So naturally, he piled his twin brother and two women into a Subaru and sped to the scene.

When Kwong drove to Pok Oi Hospital he spotted his car and immediately gave chase. The thief, apparently not knowing when to quit, immediately put the pedal to the medal, and, ladies and gentlemen, we now have ourselves an old-fashioned car chase.

How could this possibly get any better? How about the driver of the Subaru ramming straight into a roadside barrier after only two kilometres?

The Kwong twins stopped the thief, surnamed Lau, and his female companion, surnamed Chan. Lau claimed that he bought the car for HKD5,000, but there was no key in the ignition and the brothers rightfully called the alleged thief on his bullshit.

By immediately initiating melee combat.

When the police arrived, they arrested Lau and Chan on charges of assault, and driving without a license and insurance. Lau was treated at a hospital for his injuries that included a large gash near his eye.

The Kwong twins were also arrested for assault because you’re not allowed to hit people regardless of whether or not they stole your baby car.

This one hell of a case has now been handed to the police for further investigation.
