An episode of the TVB programme “Scoop”, which aired yesterday evening, was criticised for sensationalising biased information in an attempt to discredit Hong Kong Television Network’s Ricky Wong Wai-kay.
The two TV hosts, over the half-hour programme, repeatedly quoted opinions from government officials and implicitly mocked HKTV. The commentary also contained factually erroneous statistics and misleading assertions.
The programme’s controversial way of reporting HKTV’s license issue sparked a heated discussion online and infuriated netizens are heavily criticising TVB for misleading the public and airing such a biased report.
