Tuen Mun residents accuse LCSD of neglect after fishpond allegedly dries up, killing 100 fish

An artificial pond in Tuen Mun Park dried up yesterday evening, leading to the death of more than a hundred fish, including koi.

At around 6pm, people walking past the pond noticed over a hundred dead fish at the bottom of the emptied pond and turtles trying to climb out of the pond, reports Apple Daily.

Local residents suspect that the deaths were due to the staff draining the pond and the recent hot weather, and are worried that the dead fish will start stinking real soon.

A Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) official said that once the issue was discovered, staff transferred the turtles and fish to another facility, adding that not many fish died.

He said there are not meant to be fish and turtles in the pond, claiming that people had released animals there.
