Tsuen Wan luxury goods shop targeted in HKD1mil ‘flash’ burglary

An accessories shop in Tsuen Wan’s Nina Tower shopping centre saw over HKD1 million worth of luxury goods stolen in what is being described as a “flash theft”, due to how quickly the crime was committed.

Oriental Daily reports that a security guard heard the alarm sound at approximately 6am, and saw a suspect leaving Vogue Station in a hurry. The guard apparently found the glass shop front shattered, and the display case ransacked. Personally, we think “smash and run” is also a good name for this specific kind of burglary.

After investigating the scene, police said they believed the crime was committed by a group of five – one lookout, and four thieves. They are believed to have broken into the shopping centre undetected before smashing the shopfront with a hard object, emptying the display and fleeing through the fire escape.

Amongst the items stolen were handbags, wallets and other accessories from three designer labels (including Hermès), reported to be worth over HKD1 million.

Police are currently searching for the suspects based on CCTV footage obtained on the scene.
