TST beauty parlour offered illegal cosmetic surgery travel packages to South Korea

Police are seeking the owners of a Tsim Sha Tsui beauty centre, who apparently sold cosmetic surgery “travel packages” to South Korea without travel agency licences.

SCMP reports that IPS International provided plane tickets, accommodation, transportation, interpreters and pick-up service for Hongkongers looking to undergo plastic surgery in Seoul.

Under the Travel Agents Ordinance, the maximum penalty for conducting business as a travel agency without a licence is HKD100,000 and two years’ imprisonment.

A female police officer arrested a 26-year-old saleswoman yesterday, after posing as a client at the beauty parlour on Lock Road.

“The undercover agent was offered a five-day package that included breast enhancement, return air tickets, four-night hotel accommodation in Seoul and pick-up arrangement together with a Cantonese interpreter for HKD80,500,” said Inspector Chan Chi-keung from Tsim Sha Tsui police station.

Police are investigating how many customers purchased the company’s “cosmetic packages”, and are searching for a Japanese man and Taiwanese woman believed to be the company owners.
