Trial for man who “salted and cooked” parents to resume next year after jury deemed unable to handle gory evidence

On Wednesday High Court deputy judge Michael Stuart-Moore decided to discharge the entire jury for the case of the man who allegedly killed, dismembered, and cooked his parents. The decision came after a juror member said he could not bear to hear or see any more gory details about the murders.

The man was the second member of the jury to request to be discharged, after a woman who did so two days into the trial, reports the Standard. The trial started on August 5, and still had ten more days to go.

The judge, after discussing the matter with the involved lawyers for half an hour, decided that other members of the jury might also be having a difficult time (to say the least), even though a trial can legally continue with five jury members. The jury had seven members to begin with.

The judge also ordered that the entire jury be exempted from jury duty the rest of their lives, which we think is pretty fair.

The trial will be rescheduled for February next year.
