An Indonesian domestic helper accused of abusing her employer’s two children is currently in court, reports Ming Pao Daily.
A video presented at a Hong Kong magistrates’ court today appears to show Adriana Marsalina, 38, hitting and twisting the arms of the children, aged two and four, for not eating their food.
“If I don’t hit you, you won’t eat. Eat more quickly!” Marsalina can be heard telling the children as they cry.
The video footage was captured on a security camera installed in the house by the children’s parents.
The four-year-old girl told the court that Marsalina once picked her up from her chair and dropped her on the ground.
“I wasn’t naughty, but [Marsalina] still hit me,” the girl said.
In response, Marasalina’s lawyer stated that his client was only trying to adjust the chair to make the child sit still.
Marasalina’s lawyer also presented a video showing the helper hugging the girl and dressing her up for school.
The girl responded by saying that Marasalina is “sometimes kind and sometimes not.”
The 38-year-old is charged with seven counts of child abuse, which she denies. The trial continues.
