Trains on the Island Line ‘severely delayed’, causing huge crowds

A faulty train and “signal failure” at Kennedy Town reduced the MTR’s Island line to a standstill at around 7pm today.

At 7.05pm, the MTR’s official service update pages stated that there would be “severe delay[s]” on the Island line due to “signal failure at Kennedy Town”, and warned commuters to consider other modes of transport.

The issue was later chalked up to a “faulty train”, while Hongkongers were warned that some westbound Island line trains may terminate at Admiralty station at around 7.15pm.

The issue was reported to have been resolved by 7.30pm, although commuters would still be facing “severe delay”.
