Yesterday three men jumped to their deaths within three hours of each other at Oi Man Estate in Ho Man Tin.
Though the three incidents were unrelated, all three men were dealing with physical illnesses, reports Apple Daily.
A 43-year-old man surnamed Fung jumped at around 9:30am yesterday after telling his wife he was going to the doctor.
The man was apparently suffering from sleep apnea and was unable to sleep or work due to his ailment.
The police arrived but he was declared dead at the scene. No suicide note was found.
About 10 minutes later, a 71-year-old man, suffering from tongue cancer, reportedly jumped to his death in the same building.
The police immediately sent him to the hospital, where he died. A suicide note was found on the man.
Then, at around noon, a 59-year-old man who had been battling lung cancer for two years was found dead in an estate courtyard. It is suspected that he jumped, too.
The police did not find a suicide note but did not record any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
The Caritas Family Crisis Centre told Apple Daily that community members should care for each other, especially the elderly and the sick, as patients often feel lonely and helpless.
