Three men arrested at Hong Kong border with HKD4 million worth of meth in handbag

What not to wear when you’re smuggling drugs. P.S. This guy is not a suspect. (Photo: Donnie Miller via Flickr)

If you’re a man not looking to attract attention, don’t carry a handbag. We’re not ones to conform to social norms, but our uptight society dictates that you’re going to turn a few heads.

This advice would have been real useful to a couple of blokes allegedly trying to smuggle 10 kilograms of methamphetamine across Hong Kong’s Lok Ma Chau Control Point last Thursday.

That’s right. The meth was inside a handbag, according to Hong Kong Customs.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of HKD4 million, were found inside the handbag when a private car heading into Hong Kong was searched.

Two men were arrested at the scene, while another, also suspected to be involved with the case, was later arrested in Kwun Tong.

All are suspected of trafficking a dangerous drug.

The police are still investigating.

Fair play. Getting to the bottom of a handbag can be tricky business.
