Razor thefts are common is Hong Kong. It’s even more so as the city is welcoming Lunar New Year in less than three weeks when people are expected to splash out for the holiday. A recent suspected case of razor theft allegedly happened in Sheung Shui has caught the attention again amongst the northern neighbourhood.
Pictures of a man’s pocket sliced wide open together with his leather wallet inside exposing the bank notes it’s carrying went viral after they were shared to a Facebook group and recaptured by Ton Lutonna, who uploaded the photos on to anther Facebook page of North District yesterday, suspecting the incident had happened in Sheung Shui. The original post which reminds people to be aware of razor thefts is no longer available on the social media website for unknown reason.
The post drew comments with some suggesting that Sheung Shui has the highest number of razor theft cases, most of them done by women. And some suspected that such kind of crime could be committed by two to three people with two of them taking cover when the theft was taking place. Meanwhile, most of the netizens called on everyone to be careful of razor thieves especially at crowded places.
