A 19-year-old man was found dead at the bottom of a cliff on Lion’s Rock mountain yesterday.
The teenager, a student at the Fanling Rhenish Church Secondary School, was last seen on Monday, reports Apple Daily.
He was expected to take the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education examination next month.
His family, based in Shenzhen, thought that he had been staying with friends and relatives in Hong Kong and did not think anything was wrong.
They did not report him missing to the police.
Yesterday, hikers found some of the teenager’s belongings in a bag at the top of Lion Rock, including his Octopus card and his HKID.
Suspecting that someone had fallen, they looked below and saw the teenager’s body 80 metres down the side of a cliff face.
The police said that the body was already decomposing, and that it may had been there for a few days.
The family of the deceased said that the teenager was not a hiker. No suicide note was found.
The police are investigating the case.
