A 53-year-old man was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment yesterday for forcing his six-year-old student to touch his genitals.
The man, who is reported to be British, was found guilty of committing an act of gross indecency with a child under the age of 16.
HK01 reports that he forcibly placed the young girl’s hand on his crotch for three seconds when they were alone at the Tsing Yi tutorial centre where he worked on March 24, 2015.
In a video interview, the six-year-old testified that her teacher, whom she identified by name, forcefully put her hand on the part of his body “where people wee wee”, Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court heard.
The defendant’s lawyer reportedly asked for a lenient sentence and referred to six character witnesses, one of whom testified in a letter that the teacher was a good and responsible educator with a kind heart, who could be trusted with children.
While Magistrate Colin Wong said that the victim was not “permanently damaged”, he said the defendant had breached the trust of his students, employer, and colleagues, and sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment.
