Taxi rides will soon cost you 2 more bucks

All urban, new territories, and Lantau taxis will see fare increases of HKD2 to flag falls and HK10 cents every 200 metres.

From Dec. 8 onwards urban taxis will pay a flag fall charge of HKD22 and HKD1.6 for every 200 metres. Flag fall prices for the New Territories and Lantau taxis will be HKD18.50 and HKD17 respectively, and HKD1.4 per 200 metres.

Taxis in Hong Kong are generally perceived as inexpensive, but usually after a price increase passengers may be more inclined to take cheaper modes of transportation.

What are your thoughts? Will you take cabs less frequently or two bucks is no big deal!
