We here at Coconuts HK have seen our fair share of taxi drivers behaving like dicks, like this violent extortionist who punched a woman he overcharged or this cabbie who went on a Hulk-life rampage after a minor accident.

But every now and then there are exceptions when it’s pretty clear the taxi driver got a raw deal.

This 54-year-old is one of the latter.

The cabbie, surnamed Cheung, lost five teeth after being punched in the face by a drunk guy who had already busted the cab’s front windshield by hitting the glass.

Dash cam footage from the taxi published by Apple Daily captures the first part of the thug’s antics, showing him walking up and cracking the front window.

For the face punch, which was thrown through the window, Apple Daily deploys one of its handy computer generated re-enactments to give you an idea, complete with CGI teeth flying out of the victim’s CGI mouth.

Cheung told the outlet the attack happened on Monday about 11pm near the Metro City Phase Two in Tseung Kwan O, where he spotted his soon-to-be attacker who was with a woman and attempting to hail a taxi.

According to Cheung’s story, the pair, already passed by another taxi, tried to flag him down and stood in the way of his cab. He slowed down and stopped but said he couldn’t pick them up because there was a designated taxi stand just up the road.

Suddenly, the man hit the windscreen of Cheung’s cab, and started kicking the vehicle.

When Cheung started calling the police, the man reached in and tried to pull him out of the driver’s seat before punching him in the mouth, knocking out five of his teeth, three real and two fake.

Cheung then got out of the car and followed the pair to the entrance of Po Lam MTR station, but the man, far from chivalrous, had left and abandoned the woman.

Cheung returned to the cab and called the police, though it later emerged he’d given the wrong address. By the time officers arrived, the woman had also disappeared.

Cheung was sent to Tseung Kwan O hospital, while police hunt for the suspect.
