What do exercise junkies do when they’re not working out? They talk about working out.
Nobody knows this nugget of truth better than the creators of Jaha, a new mobile app available in Hong Kong that’s billed as a “fitness Tinder” for those who just can’t get enough of the gym.
Much like the totally safe and not at all awkward above-mentioned dating app, Jaha lets you meet and connect with people around you (read: strangers) to exercise or play sports with.
And in the same vein as Tinder, you set up a profile and swipe (right for yes, left for no) until you match with someone you don’t mind getting sweaty in front of.
Doubtless this will come in handy when faced with odd-numbered players in a game of football, or when you want someone to jog down a creepy hiking trail at night with… though finding a stranger to accompany you may not be the best idea in the latter scenario.
To spice up the competitive energy a little, Jaha also lets you compare stats and personal records, such as daily distance travelled, with your new fit friends and challenge them to beat you. This sounds like a fun idea, unless you hook up with one of those uber competitive types that needs to emerge as victorious every time.

But when it comes to our absolute favourite feature from Jaha, the “Smack Board” takes the crown. This is a space for you to “talk smack” to your friends in order to “encourage each other to do their best”, because a message board with your friends’ putdown comments is basically the same as hiring a personal trainer.
This app might not revolutionise the current cardio-crazed #fitspo movement, but it’s an interesting idea nonetheless. We’re swiping right for Jaha… for now.
Jaha is available for download on the App Store.
