Super Troopers: 2,700+ drivers get in trouble in weeklong traffic enforcement campaign

From August 13 to August 19, the police embarked on an intense safe driving enforcement blitz to catch bad drivers. Drivers of service and goods vehicles were targeted in particular.

Four drunk drivers were arrested. The police also issued 30 verbal warnings, 128 summonses and 2,623 fixed-penalty tickets.

The offenses recorded included speeding (892), mobile phone use (320), not wearing seatbelts (165) and failing to comply with traffic lights (151). Hopefully no one was arrested doing all four at the same time…

The police also visited 256 locations to distribute pamphlets on road safety and to encourage people to report unsafe drivers. The pamphlets are not to be read while driving, of course.
