Sunshine with a high chance of who gives a toss – Your Rugby Week weather!

Thanks to the Hong Kong Observatory’s new nine-day weather forecast, we can now all start planning our outfits for this weekend’s Beach 5s and next weekend’s Rugby Sevens – as if we hadn’t already, or as if something as inconsequential as Mother Nature could make any difference.

That aside, basically, it’s good news.

As is appropriate, tomorrow, the first day of the Beach 5s, is set to be a relative scorcher, with highs of 26°C and sunshine expected throughout the day.

It will cool down a tad to help us with our inevitable hangovers on Sunday, with the mercury dropping to a sensible 23°C and a bit more cloud offering respite.

Luckily, it looks like the rain’s going to get its business done from Monday to Friday while Hong Kong stays home and tries not to drink in preparation for Hong Kong’s sports/party event of the year.

Then it’s… BOOM, back to the sunshine on Saturday, but the perfect festival temperature of around 22°C. Even those in polar bear onesies will only be sweating heavily, as opposed to profusely.

Finally, it looks like it’s going to be a cloudy end to the Sevens, but no rain in sight as yet.

Don’t pretend you aren’t secretly hoping for a repeat of last year’s black rain storm, though. That haka will NEVER be beaten.
