We’re finding it hard to write about ANYTHING that isn’t Occupy Central today, but we’re going to make an exception for ‘writing’ as a topic in itself. This little initiative is so cheesy you could make a large margarita pizza out of it.
The Hong Kong Government has delcared Oct. 9 to be Love-Post Day (which has apparently been so for the past 11 years) in commemoration of World Post Day, whereby Hongkongers are invited to post special hand-written letters for free to a local loved one.
Designated boxes in all post offices will be available on this day, and letters will be delivered overnight. Whatever happened to good ol’ email?
General Postmaster Mrs Jessie Ting said, “The delight of receiving a letter from a loved one warms the heart. Letter mail allows you to relive that moment of delight every time you hold the letter in your hands”.
If this ‘Notebook’ sort of love is right up your street, it’s time to retreat from the frontline, down the googles and dust off your writing instruments.
This might be the only way to reach CY Leung after all!
