The Star Ferry and trams won’t cost you a penny tomorrow thanks to FREE RIDE DAY!

As if Fridays could get any better, your tram and/or Star Ferry rides tomorrow will be 100 percent free – yes that’s right, your Octopus card will have a whole TWO extra dollars on it by the end of the day.

The special occasion is the fifth edition of the much-welcomed annual Free Ride Day, brought to you by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC). TGIFRD!

The objective is of course to give us a friendly reminder that we are all serfs to the city’s commercial sector while they’re rolling in more dough than we can imagine.

The day also marks the 154th anniversary of the founding of the HKGCC, and they wish to “express [their] dedication to the well-being of the entire community, and raise public awareness of the Chamber as the voice of business in Hong Kong.”

So leave your wallets at home and let your hair loose as you ride on any of Hong Kong’s tram routes or two of the Star Ferry routes (TST-Central and TST-Wan Chai).

Yeehaw!
