Hong Kong police are investigating after a woman of South Asian origin was found hanged in a public toilet in Bowen Road Park on Saturday.
Officers were called to the Mid-Levels park, popular with joggers and affluent families, at around 7:30am after a cleaner discovered the body in a toilet cubicle that was locked from the inside.
The police have categorised the case rather ambiguously as a “person found hanging”, but the SCMP reports that it is believed the woman committed suicide.
The body was placed in a tent outside the toilet for hours as the rest of the park remained open to the public.
The woman’s Hong Kong ID was found in a bag at the scene. No suspicious circumstances have so far been detected.
