Since when you’re only required to hold one ticket and get to occupy multiple seats on the MTR? Since Wednesday! That’s after a woman refused to give up her “second seat” to other commuters allegedly saving for her loved one at Hung Hom Station on Wednesday.
Pictures of the woman and her story of how she got rid of people who was dying to sit next to her on the train were uploaded on Facebook by YuenYee Li. Li claimed that the pregnant woman in the pictures had put her handbag on the seat next to her and refused to let any other passenger to get their butt near, saying “it’s taken.”
Li complained that after giving up on sitting next to the “popular” mummy, she moved on to sit opposite her, and realised the lady who’s been sitting with her dearest handbag had been staring at her the whole time. Another passenger, who wished to take the seat, was also scared away by those eagle eyes, Li said.
A man, believed to be the woman’s husband, got on the train when the train reached the next stop and sat next to her. But Li said the princess sitting opposite still didn’t stop staring at her while the man, who had just taken the handbag’s seat, was rubbing her big tummy asking so gently “what happened?” “Nothing,” she replied.
“Oh you’re angry? I’m angry too! I paid for my ticket as well!” said Li in her Facebook post.
Thousands of other Facebook users voiced their support for Li. “Oh you’re pregnant? Big deal! The seat was available, not that we’re asking a pregnant woman to get up from her own seat,” one of them said angrily. And many of the commenters said they’re worried how the woman would teach her baby in the future. The story has also drawn many other soon-to-be mums to stand up for Li. “I’m eight-month pregnant. I once stood next to a young father and his two-year-old son for the entire trip. Not judging. It’s good to have seats given to you, but it’s also normal to have none!” said a netizen.
Well … let’s just say it’s not her, it’s her hormones!
