Although Macau residents need to take a lot of crap the casino brings to the city, like tourists and traffic, the up side is the money it brings!
The Macau government has announced that permanent residents next year will each be getting MOP$9,000 – about MOP$1,000 more than what they’re getting this year! Non-permanent residents get a bite of the dough too, they’ll receive MOP$5,400 next year – MOP$600 more than this year.
All these payouts will cost the Macau government MOP$11.3 billion and is only a part of the economic subsidy measures. Another HK$2 billion of tax rebates will be distributed in various forms.
