Sniper Shooting: Elderly jogger shot in the chest in Ho Man Tin

A security guard with a reported “enthusiasm for air guns” was arrested yesterday after an elderly jogger was shot in the chest while doing his circuit in Ho Man Tin. According to The Standard, 83-year-old Chung Kin-chi was caught by one of several pellets believed to have been fired from Choi Man House at around 7am.

The victim, who was with his wife at the time, was bleeding heavily and rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He received surgery on arrival and remained in a serious condition as of last night.

After conducting a 50-officer-strong search of Choi Man House, the police eventually found a flat containing four cans of BB gun pellets. A 40-year-old suspect, who is said to be a fan of “war games”, has been taken in for questioning.

According to two expert sources cited by The Standard, the air rifle was probably modified to allow it to shoot over such a distance. Enquiries are continuing.
