To protect children’s health an anti-smoking activist and community-health specialist is urging the government to ban smoking in cars and homes.
The activists are pushing for the ban after a study released found that children subjected to second-hand smoke were more susceptible to heart related and respiratory illnesses later in life.
Smoking in cars when children are present are banned in the United States, Australia and Canada – Britain is said to follow suit soon. There are however, no similar legislation for banning smoking in homes. Hong Kong currently has no laws protecting children from second-hand smoke.
