Slither Me Timbers! 3.5m-long, 150lb python caught in Tsuen Wan

Turns out humans aren’t the only ones who get midnight munchies. A 3.5-metre-long Burmese python was captured in the wee hours of today after it apparently made its way into town for a spot of dinner.

At around 1am, a driver travelling down Castle Peak Road in Tsuen Wan notified the police of an enormous snake near Ting Kau Village, Ming Pao reports

After police rushed to the scene to confirm the story, the python reportedly slithered its way into a nearby drain. Officers called a famed snake wrangler surnamed Hoi, who arrived about an hour later.

After taping the python’s mouth shut, Hoi began winding its body into a bag, exclaiming that he’d never seen such a large snake in his three-decade career. It seems Hoi wasn’t kidding, as he actually had to use a second bag to fit the rest of the reptile’s body in.

(May we suggest a dog cage next time?)

According to Hoi, the snake is a female Burmese python, which he estimated to be around 50 years old. HK01 reports that she was taken to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden.
