Remember when this happened? Followed by this?
Well, hopefully these YouTube stars’ 15-minutes of fame is up soon as the police have decided not to prosecute the boyfriend Chioo Wing-ming who allegedly pushed and kicked photographer May Tse outside Kowloon City Court.
Chioo was leaving court with his infamous girlfriend after she had received a good-behaviour bond for slapping him.
Tse suffered swelling to the back of her head and bruised arm and knee. The police however, have decided not to press charges as after reviewing the evidence there was not enough proof to demonstrate any reasonable prospect of conviction.
Tse thinks that there seems to be a trend for people to get away with attacking journalists – making it difficult for those in her industry to work. Tse was previously slapped and shoved by two men when she took pictures of parallel goods traders near Sheung Shui MTR station – they too were not prosecuted but were only sentenced to perform community service.
According to the SCMP, journalist and press associations are urging the department to review its decision on this case to ensure the safeguard of future press freedom and journalists’’ safety.
