Do you ever worry that Hong Kong might be attacked from the air? Maybe those terrifying hawks will finally become as evil as they look…?
But fret not.
Kanwa Defense Review, a Chinese-language military magazine published in Canada, has revealed that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has decided to install a HQ-6 surface-to-air missile system at the Shek Kong Barracks in Hong Kong.
According to a translation by Want China Times, a battalion of three tracking radars, a search radar and six launch vehicles will allow Hong Kong to lock in and blow to smithereens 60 aerial targets from as far away as 50 kilometres, and give us the ability to attack four evil hawks simultaneously.
The HQ-6 battalion will also offer future air defence capabilities by coordinating with HQ-9 surface-to-air missiles across the border in China.
Let’s hope that’s enough to protect us if the hawk thing happens, or if Pacific Rim becomes a reality any time soon – either one or both of which surely will.
However, our much needed protection from alien sea monsters and rabid birds will have to be postponed for a while as the Shek Kong Barracks are said to be too narrow for this kind of badass/terrifying hardware at present.
Dang. Better get back to tinkering with your Jaeger.
