As if the streets of Wan Chai weren’t crazy enough this weekend, even more mayhem ensued when a bus driver apparently passed out at the wheel, causing the vehicle to mount the pavement and knock down a tree and six pedestrians.

Luckily no-one was seriously injured during the incident which occurred at 5:40pm on Sunday – a couple of hours before the streets filled up with drunk Hong Kong Sevens fans.

According to a police officer who spoke to the SCMP, the driver of the New World First bus was heading along Tin Lok Lane when “he suddenly felt dizzy. He then heard a loud bang and when he came round he saw that the bus had crashed.”

Seven people including the driver, who passed a breathalyser test at the scene, were taken to hospital with minor injuries to their limbs.
