Six hammerhead sharks die, one after the other at Ocean Park

Ocean Park Grand Aquarium

This is so sad! Six female hammerhead sharks have died within a seven hour period at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park.

The park is not sure what caused the deaths but they did notice the sharks swimming abnormally yesterday morning, and observed them until they died one after the other back-of-house.

A day before the deaths, the sharks were perfectly healthy and fine, and all other marine life in the tank are behaving normally.

The park is investigating whether the water may have caused a disease outbreak affecting the hammerhead sharks.

The Grand Aquarium has eight other sharks that may also be at risk, so the park is closely monitoring them.
