56-year-old Singaporean artist Lee Wen was found unconscious with injuries to his face in a bathroom at the City University of Hong Kong. He’s now discharged from the hospital.
According to the SCMP, police and media reported that Lee, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, claimed he did not know whether he had slipped in the bathroom or was beaten up. However, Lee was later on convinced he was “attacked”.
Lee was in Hong Kong for the Art Basel event, where he criticised the human rights situation in the mainland as he raised concerns about this month’s arrest of soldier-turned-artist Chen Guang ,which netizens speculate could have been the cause of the attack.
