Sina Weibo has been censoring searches for “Hong Kong Boycott Classes” (香港 罢课), according to reports.
Screenshots apparently taken by free-speech blog Fei Chang Dao showed that while the search term was available on Monday, the first day of Hong Kong’s student protests, by today it was a classic case of ‘computer says no’.
A second screenshot shows a pop-up box asserting:
“In accordance with relevant laws and regulation and policies, search results for “Boycott Classes” have not been displayed.”
Doesn’t seem to have had much effect…
