This is so sad: a 19-year-old woman was killed in a bus accident this morning.
The young woman, Fung Tin-yu was returning home with her boyfriend around 6:30am this morning when the two were struck by a shuttle bus (transporting residents from a luxury housing estate in Tuen Mun) at the Pui To Road and Tuen Mun Heung Sze Wui Road junction.
Fung was unconscious and certified dead at Tuen Mun hospital whereas the boyfriend was treated for head and leg injuries. He wasn’t able to give the police a statement as he became emotionally distraught when he heard about his girlfriend’s passing.
It’s unsure whether the couple were jaywalking at the time or if the shuttle bus had neglected to follow traffic lights. The police however, have arrested 69-year-old bus driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. No charges have been made yet.
