Shots, shots, shots! A single bottle of Japanese whisky sold for HKD257,250 at auction

A bottle of Yamazaki 50-year-old single malt whisky sold for a whopping HKD257,250 at a Bonhams auction in Hong Kong. One of only 150 bottles, this very special whisky was sealed in 1961 and spent 50 long years aging in a Japanese oak cask, meaning it was bottled in 2011. For that price, it better be liquid heaven and hangover-free.

The sale price far exceeded Bonhams’ estimate of HKD190,000, reports Bloomberg. At the auction, Bonhams sold HKD6.56 million worth of whisky. Someone out there is throwing a very expensive party.
