Shops selling dangerous poop-inducing slimming pills raided in Mong Kok

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested after two shops in Mong Kok were raided for being involved in the suspected sale of a dangerous slimming product.

In a joint sting by the police and the Department of Health on Friday, a slimming product labelled as containing orlistat was recovered.

Orilstat is a Part I poison that can cause the following side effects… wait for it…

“Faecal urgency, fatty stool, increased frequency of defecation, faecal incontinence, headache and abdominal pain. Severe liver injuries may also be induced.”

Ewwwesh!

Kate Moss famously said that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, but surely nothing feels as bad as having your insides fall out either.

A spokesman for the Department of Health said:

“Weight control should be achieved through a balanced diet and appropriate exercise. The public should consult healthcare professionals before using any medication for weight control. They should not use controlled medicines on their own without advice from a doctor.”

The maximum penalty for the illegal sale of a Part I poison is a HKD100,000 fine and two years in jail.

Always look for the registration number on the label in the format of “HK-XXXXX”, and stop taking anything that makes you crap your pants.
