Sheung Wan restaurant accused of animal cruelty after groupers left to starve to death

A Sheung Wan seafood restaurant is being investigated for animal cruelty after eight giant groupers were found slowly starving to death.

One of the fish did not survive.

A Good Samaritan called the police yesterday morning to report the restaurant, which had been closed for a week, according to the SCMP.

Ng Pak-yan, who opened the restaurant with a friend but no longer owns it, said it may have been closed because the cooks were on strike after being refused a raise.

Bastille Post reports that the seven surviving fish have been sent to Ocean Park.

They’ll probably end up in that giant tank that the park’s restaurant patrons get to stare at while they eat…
