Shenzhen police recover HKD3.65 million of Bossini kidnapping cash from secluded hillside

Shenzhen police have announced on Weibo – because that’s how you get a message out in China – that they’ve recovered HKD3.65 million in cash in connection to the Bossini kidnapping case.

Xiong Denghui, 22, the most recent arrestee, reportedly led cops to bushes on a secluded hill above Shenzhen on May 16, where 10 pieces of jewellery and a rather hefty amount of cash wound stuffed into rucksacks.

Imagine finding that little stash while out on a hike!

Eight other suspects have so far been arrested, while one still remains at large.

Last month police recovered HKD2.8 million and some valuables, but HKD21 million from the HKD28 million ransom is still missing.

Queenie Law, granddaughter of the founder of fashion chain Bossini, was kidnapped from her Sai Kung home on April 25 by a gang of six Putonghua-speaking men.

She was released unharmed three days later after the family paid the ransom.
