About 20 or so sex workers took to the streets on Tuesday, International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, to protest against the police force’s unfair treatment towards those in the sex industry.
The sex workers marched in the rain from Wan Chai’s Southern Playground to Government Headquarters in Tamar.
There have been 456 cases of complaints about the police reported from sex workers this year alone. The sex workers complained that the police unnecessarily asked them for identification documents, would verbally threaten and abuse them, and in some cases physically abuse the sex workers.
