Remember that couple filmed having sex on the street outside Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University in April? Here’s what’s going on with them.
According to the SCMP, mainland students Wu Xinyi, 18, and Yang Hao, 19, both appeared at Kowloon City Court this morning charged with one count of committing an act outraging public decency. Both pleaded not guilty.
Just two hours later, however, Wu returned to court to enter a guilty plea, while Yang continues to maintain his innocence.
Wu and an as-of-yet-unspecified man were spotted having sex at a bus top near the residential halls of Hong Kong’s PolyU, Hung Hom, on April 1 last year.
A security guard told the court that he saw the couple engage in full sex and then oral sex (apparently in that order), and yelled at them to no avail.
He called the police, who reportedly only managed to get the man’s attention when tapping him on the shoulder.
However, by this point the two had unstuck themselves, so no arrests were made at the scene.
It was only the next day when vast waves of videos and photos of the incident began to emerge that the police were forced to call the two into the station.
Wu’s defence counsel said his client’s new guilty plea reflects her remorse, adding that the extensive media coverage of the incident provided “additional punishment”.
We’re just glad we could be of assistance.
Wu will be sentenced on July 8, while Yang goes to trial on August 13.
