Seven-year-old schoolboy dragged for 20 metres by minibus

In a horrific accident, a seven-year-old boy walking to school from his home with his sister was hit by a minibus and dragged for 20 metres on the road under the minibus.

The boy, a primary two student at the Salvation Army Tin Ka Ping School, ran off the sidewalk and across Heung Fan Liu Street in Sha Tin, when he was hit by a green-topped minibus.

According to the officer, the boy was trapped under the minibus when his schoolbag got tangled with something under the carriageway. His face collided with the road while he was being dragged by the vehicle, leaving the left part of his face seriously injured. The boy’s 10-year-old sister was reportedly in shock seeing her brother hit by the minibus.

The boy is now in critical condition at the Prince of Wales Hospital.

There are no pedestrian-crossing facilities around Heung Fan Liu and the police are looking into the matter.
