Senior police constable jailed for 20 months for molesting daughter and pointing gun at her head

A senior constable in the Hong Kong police force – who was accused of molesting his then-six-year-old daughter, pointing a gun at her head and handcuffing her – was sentenced to 20 months in prison by Fanling Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard earlier that the 42-year-old father of two had assaulted his child whilst helping her shower by pinching her nipples, fondling her chest, and touching her genitalia and anus on three separate occasions in 2013.

He then handcuffed the child and pointed a gun at her eye, according to Oriental Daily.

The constable pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent assault and one count of common assault, but was convicted and sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment.

The defence allegedly plans to lodge an appeal. The court rejected their request for the defendant to be released on bail in the interim.

Defence counsel Erik Kwok drew the court’s attention to the fact that the constable’s psychological assessment was normal. He intimated that it was unlikely that the defendant would repeat the offence.

Magistrate Raymond Wong said that, although the officer had maintained a good record in his 20 years with the force and had been awarded a certificate of commendation, he seriously violated his daughter’s trust, RTHK reports.
