Senior civil servants will receive a six percent pay rise this year

The Executive Council announced yesterday that junior and middle civil servants will receive a pay rise of 4.71 percent and senior members will receive 5.96 percent increase.

Junior civil servant staff earn less than HK$18,535 per month, middle-ranking civil servants earn about HK$18,535 to HK$56,810, while high-ranking civil servants take home between HK$56,811 to HK$112,155 a month.

The pay increase percentage is higher than the annual inflation rate of 3.7 percent predicted.

This year’s pay rise is more than double that of what civil servants received last year which was 2.55 percent increase.
