Self-ie defence? Korean tourist injures staff at 5-star Peninsula hotel by throwing phone at his head

A Korean tourist has apparently injured a security guard at the 5-star Peninsula hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui after throwing her phone at his head, which goes to show that money can buy a fancy hotel room and an enormous phone, but manners are priceless.

According to Oriental Daily, the incident occurred when a 26-year-old South Korean woman surnamed Lee was having a disagreement with her friends at the luxury hotel at around 4am today.

A 24-year-old security guard surnamed Cheung reportedly approached the group to discourage them from arguing, when Lee threw her phone at his forehead, causing him to bleed. It’s probably for the best that Lee hasn’t picked up on the trick of dismantling pavements to make improvised missiles.

Police have reportedly filed the case as accidental injury caused by a dispute, and nobody was arrested.

Chang was taken to the hospital for treatment, but has since been discharged. We wonder if he’ll adopt a new motto for dealing with irate guests from now on… perhaps “Sticks and stones won’t break my bones, but phones will probably hurt me”.
