School’s Out! Hong Kong schools in Central, Wan Chai and Western Districts to remain closed tomorrow

Hong Kong’s Education Bureau has announced that all kindergartens, primary, secondary and special schools in Wan Chai, Central and Western districts will be closed tomorrow due to expected traffic disturbances caused by the Occupy Central protests. All kids say “yay”!

It’s basically a get-out-of-school-free card for all, as even schools outside of the danger zone are being told to “exercise flexibility when handling students’ lateness or absence”.

Teachers, however, may not be quite as jubilant, as the bureau is advising all schools to remain open and staffed to deal with the kids that didn’t get the memo.

The government is keen to stress that this announcement is NOT an excuse for more young people to join Occupy Central. There’s been QUITE enough of that already, apparently.

“During class suspension, parents should keep their children home and not allow them to participate in any assemblies or activities that might be unlawful,” a statement reads.

Peaceful protesting might also be lawful though, right?
