SARS response level lowered from “serious” to “alert”

The Hong Kong government lowered the influenza response level from “serious” to “alert” today, claiming that the H7N9 bird flu outbreak has eased.

Secretary for Food and Health Dr Ko Wing-man told the media yesterday that there has been no new H7N9 cases since April 13 this year.

They believe that the epidemic in the mainland has also eased, with less frequent reported cases recently.

The date for when mainland live poultry imports would resume is yet to be announced, since it was suspended in Jan. this year.
