Hong Kong’s chief executive, Leung Chun-ying, expressed that sanctions against the Philippines remains a possibility when it becomes necessary.
CY Leung threatened sanctions last Nov. when Hongkongers and those involved in the Manila hostage tragedy expressed anger that no progress in talks have been made despite the incident happening three years ago.
Leung has made it clear that the government understands what the hostage victims’ families and survivors are seeking: an apology, compensation, punishment for those accountable, and measures to ensure the safety of tourists.
