The 29-year-old British banker accused of killing two women in his Wan Chai apartment after Halloween night last year was back in court yesterday.
Rurik Jutting was not due to appear until July as the prosecution had asked for more time for the forensic testing of more than 200 items of evidence.
The defendant was, however, brought to the Eastern Court early to be told that he must return on April 2 and enter a plea to the murder charges.
After psychologic assessments already found him fit to enter a plea last year, the case would be transferred to Hong Kong’s High Court if he claims he is innocent, reports SCMP.
Sumarti Nigsih, 25, and another woman, who has not been named in court but whose identity has been widely reported in the international media, were found dead in Jutting’s J Residence flat in the early hours of Nov. 1 last year.
