Rough flight: 15 birds found dead in Mong Kok

Shocked shoppers called the police yesterday after finding 15 dead birds at Langham Place in Mong Kok.

The Chinese bulbuls were removed by the authorities and have been sent for avian flu testing, according to a report in Apple Daily.

What’s more likely than a sudden in-flight mass succumbing to avian flu, however, is that the flock rammed straight into the glass wall of the mall. D’oh!

According to Jocelyn Ho Pui-Lan of the Hong Kong Bird Watching Society, little birds sometimes mistake reflections in glass buildings as a continuation of the sky, although the others normally catch on after the first few drop dead.
