Health authorities from The Centre for Health Protection expressed yesterday their concern in the increase of university students drinking alcohol.
In a survey conducted, the centre found that the number of young adults binge-drinking has increased to 10 percent in 2012, as compared to 7.4 percent in 2010.
According to the RTHK, a consultant at the centre Dr Regina Ching speculate that local university students are picking up the drinking habit from foreign exchange students and is advising parents to not allow their children to drink when they’re young. She also advises parents should be role models and refrain from drinking around young children as the effects of alcohol on health are serious.
